Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers state they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state early analysis show the substance was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; authorities are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the event," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were working "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the public for information.
An important official said the vandalism rendered him stunned and required to be addressed promptly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he posted on online, recalling the murder of nine victims by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in five years prior.
